feeling a little chloé

I was in the mood for a little girlish masculinity for this morning's Sunday brunch.
So hence came the inspired Chloé Prefall 2009 look.

One of my favourite things about design in general is juxtaposition.

Whether it's in interior design, architechture, art, style, food, ANYTHING, just inject a little opposite day. I love the idea of an incredibly beautiful and delicate watercolour depicting an aggressive subject. Or a feminine bow done in a thick wool à la Chloé.

The watercolour is mine from a series of watercolour fashion illustrations.
I think it's much more exciting to create something by mixing completely different elements of style and design.
The result is a true sum of its parts. Design that references the past, but captures the present.

And yes I did attempt a semi haircut inspired by Kim Noorda's blunt cut last night, as I could not bare to stare at my half grown out non-haircut for a minute more.

jean genie

So basically my plan to go to Kensington failed due to the fact that it started raining... so instead I just went for a quick stop into Mendocino on Bloor to satisfy my shopping craving and found this great pair of jeans:

Only 47.91! Soooo comfy and incredibly soft and lightweight. How is this possible?

Basically I'm never taking them off.

My girl friend and I are having our weekly cookoff tonight. Homemade pizza is on the menu and I am très excitée. I love you Jamie Oliver and your cookbooks with delicious photos.

blouse, cardigan and shoes, H&M; jeans, Nitrogen at Mendocino; clutch, vintage.

elements of my future home/things that i must have.

I love the lamp with the tea cups, I've seen a lot of those kinds of found object light fixtures over the last few years, and I think they're so brilliant.
I half tried to make one for my boyfriend for his birthday but it fully did not work.
I bought all these random things from Value Village and attempted to drill through them...
so many things went wrong with that plan.
Christien Meindertsma's giant knit rug is also completely amazing.

I especially love the plates display, it's my goal to find a bunch of cool antique plates like that,
mismatched and cheap!! hopefully... I'm trawling Kensington market today, maybe something will pop up.

The Red Tea Box

Such a lovely lovely place.

Almond Espresso Cake

If I were rich I would actually go here every single day and eat everything.
I'm not even joking.

beautiful whimsy.

Yoko Furusho's twisted fairytales.

Melinda Josie's delicate watercolours.

I love. I want to do something like this.
Possibly a graphic novel...
The colours make me think of mini cakes from this lovely bakery/tea place called the
Red Tea Box in Toronto. They make the most incredible little perfect creations.
My backup career is being a baker for them.
