working girl

Long day at the ol' internship.
A busy day of sewing and patternmaking.
I'm wearing a pair of shorts I designed from a few years ago. Every now and then I pull them out for a good go. They have little gold anchor buttons.
They're funny.

The necklace is an old pearl trinket that my grandmother gave me when I was like ten, and never appreciated until just recently. I finally found a gold chain to put it on, as it's been sitting in my jewelry box for about a zillion years. It's so funny when you rediscover things you've had for years and then realize that you suddenly love them.
I'd really love to do some found object jewelry, but I find it so hard to find good quality antique pieces, which is what I'd want to use. I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars either.
Potentially, I'd like to put together a mismatch of modern beads, plastics and resins with antique gold, trinkets, pearls, and costume pieces.
The vintage store Courage My Love always has an excellent selection of beads and buttons (I get all my vintage buttons there for my designs), and there are a few antique dealers on Queen and Roncesvalles who often stock jewelry. I must go on a hardcore trek.

Anyways, I'm off to pilates.
